While I personally think that Hillary is a fine person and a pretty good Senator, I don't really think her becoming President would be all that great.
I believe that she would be much more effective in her capacity as a Senator.
She's just been a little to apt to change her positions to suit the political climate in the run up to the Democratic primaries. She'd be bringing a lot of political baggage to the White House. She voted to give an absolute fool the power to wage war. And Bill would make a crap First Lady.
I'd love to see a female President, just a different female.
And therein lie Hillary Clinton's biggest problems. She epitomizes the
"insider" label of the early crowd of 2008 Democratic contenders. She's part of
the Clinton machine that decimated the national Democratic Party. And she
remains surrounded by many of the old consultants who counsel meekness and
caution. James Carville, the famed longtime adviser to the Clintons, told
Newsweek last week, "The American people are going to be ready for an era of
realism. They've seen the consequences of having too many 'big ideas.'
How 'bout Condoleeza?

ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. Hillary has been a good Senator, and shes a nice enough person in the flesh, but I think the best she could do is as good as Kerry did in 04. And I say this as a New Yorker.
