I won't be voting for John McCain, and I certainly won't be voting for Barack Obama.

With that out of the way, let me also say that I believe that the media slants both ways, because they capitalize off of America's desire to fight with each other rather than engage in any substantial, fact-based discussion.

I used to be a neo-con who believed that the entire media slanted left. I now see that the only thing the media is interested in is adding fuel to an already raging fire so that they may fill their pockets and wallets. I'm not blaming them...they're making billions because many Americans are too ignorant to search for the information themselves. If we demanded fact-based reporting rather than news that supports our own agendas, it wouldn't be a lucrative business. The media is simply giving the people what they want.

I haven't watched cable or local news since the last election. I firmly believe that this is why I've found myself more informed and more reasonable in political discussions... I've had to seek out the facts and then make an honest decision about what those facts mean to me, and how they relate to my beliefs.

We can fight with each other all day long, and we can continue to argue about whether the MSM slants left or right. But when we finally see that the media is simply attempting to widen the chasm between left and right for their own benefit by reporting on stories that encourage people to be glued to their televisions, the fog begins to lift.

I wish that America would step away from their televisions long enough to engage in discussions with their neighbors, friends and family.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
