Dis, dat and Stephen Colbert..

Now that we've found that the Bush Administration is trying to build a data base comprised of all of us, Valdis Krebs, an expert on social network analysis, says that Bush's plan is all wrong and lets the terrorists run free. Of course if it was a plan that actually worked Bush wouldn't touch it. Stay the course! From DefenseTech.org:

The right thing to do is to look for the best haystack, not the biggest
haystack. We knew exactly which haystack to look at in the year 2000 [before the
9/11 attacks]. We just didn't do
it...
The worst part -- the thing that's most disappointing to me -- is that this
is not the right way to do this. It's a waste of time, a waste of resources. And
it lets the real terrorists run free.

U.S. has second worst newborn death rate in modern world. See you don't always get what you pay for. You see we have the most expensive medical system in the world.

(CNN) -- An estimated 2 million babies die within their first 24 hours each year
worldwide and the United States has the second worst newborn mortality rate in
the developed world, according to a new
report.
American babies are three times more likely to die in their first month as
children born in Japan, and newborn mortality is 2.5 times higher in the United
States than in Finland, Iceland or Norway, Save the Children researchers
found.

Probably the biggest news on the Cancer front that I've ever heard. They've found that injecting white blood cells from mice that are naturally immune to cancer, into mice with cancer, wipes out the cancer and those mice will be immune from cancer. Now if this will only work on us.

White blood cells from mice that are naturally immune to cancer cured tumors
in other mice and provided them with lifelong immunity to the disease,
researchers reported Monday.

The finding indicates the existence of a biological pathway previously
unsuspected in any species. A small team of researchers is working to
understand
the genetic and immunological basis of the surprising
phenomenon.

And the good folks over at AlterNet.org explains why Stephen Colbert is A New American Hero in a way the even the smug D.C. journalists can understand.

Colbert's speech had a huge impact for two reasons: First, he spoke truth to
power right to the face of the president, in front of the entire news media. No
one could miss, sidestep or deny it. It wasn't a scene from a movie, book or
talk show -- it was live. It reminded me of Edward R. Murrow's famous
address
to the Radio and Television News Directors Association (recently
depicted in the film "Good Night and Good Luck"). It gave me goose bumps.
Colbert's performance shamed every Democrat or columnist who has been too
afraid, too timid, or just too worried about losing his or her own power and
access to go out on a limb and tell the truth that this administration is a
disaster beyond our wildest nightmares. Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove have gotten
away with murder … and worse. And many of the people in that room that night who
squirmed in their seats -- it was in part because of the internal indictment
they were feeling for not doing what they should have done, countless times,
long before. Maybe now they will do the right thing, but I won't be holding my
breath.

I did not mean that Conservatives are generally stupid; I meant, that stupid persons are generally Conservative. I believe that to be so obvious and undeniable a fact that I hardly think any hon. Gentleman will question it.
